In the context of the development and enhancement of the Grand Parc de l’Ouest by the City of Montreal, Biodiversité Conseil conducted flora and fauna inventories across 225 hectares of the park, encompassing the Grand Sentier de l’Ouest and Pointe-Théorêt. The floristic inventories included characterizing plant communities, identifying and locating species at risk and invasive exotic species, and delineating wetlands. The wildlife inventories included surveys of snakes, frogs, turtles, and birds. Finally, a study of the impact of trail use was also conducted in a portion of the study area. Ultimately, this comprehensive ecological characterization will inform development plans, conservation plans, and park management practices on municipal land.
