Naskapi nation of Kawawachicamach (2022)

The Cambrien and Nachicapau lakes region is located 250 km northwest of Schefferville. As it is often the case in Northern Quebec, this vast region has not frequently been the subject of floristic surveys. The team at Biodiversité conseil was mandated by the Naskapie Nation to make a general portrait of the vegetation in the region. This floristic survey allowed to identify various habitats as well as a high specific diversity, including two species found outside their known geographic distribution. The survey will serve as an important reference tool in the steps towards the prospective creation of a protected area in the Labrador Trough.
